About

I am a military kid who grew up in different places. To this day, I haven’t quite settled in a specific location of my own yet, but my parents are from Alabama and Florida. Trust me the house was not divided. “Go Gators” every day. I’ve had the pleasure to spend some of my time growing up in Japan and thanks to the nice custodian, I only remember “Kon’nichiwa”,  after greeting her every morning.

I have a fraternal twin sister whom I am always confused with and two younger twin sisters. Yes, read that last statement again. My parents had two sets of twins, and that’s all she birthed. I attended The University of South Alabama for my B.S. and Howard University for my M.S. in Communication and Science Disorders.

I went through this season of trying to figure out who I am and what I wanted to do. We’ve all been there, remember I did say this was “The Real”. I thought I had it figured out many  many times, but life has a funny way of doing a 180.  After three-plus years of trying to find the perfect moment that turned into procrastination when launching this blog, I’m still not ready, but I’m PURPOSE(ly) choosing progress over perfection. Along the way I found my identity and I can’t wait to share more in hopes to encourage and inspire you to do more and better. It’s been quite the journey!

I’m not sure what brought you here or how you heard about my Y.E.S zone, but I am so glad you stopped by. Y.E.S. stands for “Yield Every Step,” because I believe in honoring God, with every step I take.

I am passionate about sharing my authentic experiences to educate and empower those in and out of my community who are simply living. I have many life perspectives, interests, and passions that couldn’t fit in a box, so I made my own. I only hope you will learn, laugh, and we might cry sometimes, but I know you will leave inspired and encouraged to be all you were created to be.

Oh, and child, you better know I am giving you “The Real”.
