My Boujee Period with The Honey Pot

I don’t always feel so calm when Aunt Flo visits. She wears me out the first day she arrives. Ugh, she makes me so sick. But that’s Aunty, and she ain’t going nowhere.

Research says that women have approximately 450 periods during their lifetime; that’s 36,000 ml of aunties “I thought you were ready” releasing, and yet I am still never prepared.

As a little girl, I was scared of my period. I couldn’t imagine bleeding all day. Honestly, I think I was glad I didn’t have to deal with it just yet. My sister started hers first, and she said it wasn’t too bad, so I decided I also was ready, which didn’t matter because it wasn’t up to me. Ready or not, she was coming. When the day finally arrived, I don’t recall anything too abnormal, but every one after that Aunt Flo let me have it.

For me, it was painful, sickening, and I felt like I lost every time she came. In college, I remember laying on the floor for the entire day in pain, barely able to eat or move. I’ve missed classes and work. I’ve even fainted in public places. I have changed my diet, and I have been to countless medical visits where everything is always ‘just fine’ as far as they can see. It might be time for a 7th opinion, though.

On the bright side, forgetting about the acne, stress, and emotions that came with each cycle, I did feel empowered and bold. It was nice to feel a little grown with a bit more responsibility. I wasn’t just a young girl; I was a young lady whose body said so. Once you start, you get into the SWOP (the Society of Women On their Period). It’s a real thing. In the society you start linking up with other women around you, you can tell when other women are on theirs, you secretly ask and creatively pass products around, and we ignore the guys who try to speak on what they don’t have—and that’s on periodt, with a t.

I began using the @thehoneypotco over two years ago, and I will never look back. I still have some months that get the best of me, but Aunty is boujee now, and here’s why.

These plants based feminine care products keep me clean, calm, and collected. Initially, the tingling sensation I felt was a bit alarming, but not uncomfortable. The cotton pads are created from pesticide-free cotton and infused with essential oils that “tingle,” which provides much-needed relief.

The feminine wash claims to boost moisture levels, calm irritation, and balance pH. I use this gentle cleanser every day. It has also provided me with relief without discomfort, perfect for your honey pot; it is my personal favorite. Lavender, rose, aloe vera, and mint are among the 100% all-natural ingredients used in the feminine products designed by people with vaginas, for people with vaginas.

Run to your local Walmart, Walgreens, or CVS today because no, I don’t have an extra product you can borrow.
